21、Street art is a very popular form of art that is spreading quickly all over the world. You can find it on building, sidewalks, street sings and trash cans from Tokyo to Paris, and from Moscow to Cape Town. Street art has become a global culture and even art museums and galleries are collecting the works of street artists. Even advertising companies also use street art in their ads due to its popularity.

Street art started out very secretly because it’s illegal to paint on public and private property without permission. People often have different opinions about street art. Some people think it is a crime with others think it’s a new form of culture.

Art experts claim that the movement began in New York in the 1960s. Young adults sprayed words and images on walls and trains. This colorful and energetic style of writing became known as graffiti(涂鸦). Graffiti art showed that young people wanted to rebel against society. They didn’t want to accept rules, and they travelled around cities to create paintings that everyone could see. In many cases, they had trouble with the police and the local government.

Many street corners in Paris show the works of Space Invader. A French artist uses small pieces of glass to make images of space creatures. He has been doing this for some years and the police have arrested him a few times. On his website, you can see many other places where he has created this form of art.

Street artists do their work for some reasons. Some of them do not like the artists who make so much money in galleries and museums. They choose street art because it is closer to common people. Some artists try to express their political opinion in their works. They often want to protest against big firms and corporations. Others like to do things that are forbidden and hope they don't get caught.

In today’s world, the Internet has a big influence on street art. Artists can show their pictures to people all over the world. Many city residents, however, say that seeing a picture on the Internet is never as good as seeing it alive. The street art movement lives with the energy and life of a big city. There it will continue to change and grow.

23、   How did you develop from an infant(婴儿),with a few elementary thinking skills, to the adult you are now, with the ability to reason and analyze the world in many complex ways involving language, symbols and logic? Your first reaction to this question may be very likely to say, “Well, I learned how to think from my experiences and from the teaching I received from adults through my life.”

Although this explanation seems naturally correct to most people, many developmental psychologists believe that much more is involved in acquiring intellectual abilities than simple learning. The current view about intellectual development is that it is a process of maturation, much like physical development, that occurs in a predictable fashion from birth through adulthood.

Do you look at an infant and see a person who, with enough learning, is capable(有能力的) of adult physical behaviors? Of course not. Instead, you know that the child's behavior will become increasingly complex over time through a process of physical maturation. You know that until the child achieves a certain level of development, all the learning in the world cannot produce certain behaviors. For example, consider the behavior of walking. You probably think of walking as a learned behavior. But imagine trying to teach a 6-month-old to walk. You could place the infant on an Olympic-level schedule of 8 hours practice every day, but the child will not learn to walk, Wily? Because the child has not yet reached the physical maturity to perform the behaviors needed to walk.

Intellectual development occurs in much the same way. Children simply cannot display certain thinking and reasoning abilities until they reach an appropriate stage of intellectual development, no matter how much learning they may have experienced.

1What is most people's view on intellectual development?

A.It depends on experience and education.

B.Its process is simple and predictable.

C.It is similar to physical development.

D.It just happens naturally in life.

2What can we learn about physical development from the text?

A.It stops naturally, at an early age.

B.It happens through simple learning.

C.It is part of intellectual development.

D.It occurs in the process of growing up.

3Why is walking mentioned in paragraph 3?

A.To show behaviors can't be learned till a certain age.

B.To prove walking can be learned at any stage in our life.

C.To indicate a baby can't learn to walk without parents, help.

D.To suggest more practice can produce more learned behaviors.

4Where is this text most likely from?

A.A research paper.

B.A science magazine.

C.A teaching guidebook.

D.A children's newspaper.

24、   Instead of using a credit card or smartphone to pay for your goods, Amazon wants you to use your hands. In a blog post. Dilip Kumar, vice president of Amazon Physical Retail introduced the company's' palm recognition(掌纹识别) technology, known as Amazon One. The technology, first rolling out in Amazon's home market of Seattle: will use people's palms to identify(确认身份) them and combine that with details of the palm, such as lines and ridges, to build “palm signature.”

In addition to the trial in the company's stores in Seattle, starting today, Kumar added that Amazon One will come to other Amazon stores and will be used for more than just paying with your palm. "We believe Amazon one has broad applicability beyond our retail stores, so we also plan to offer the service to third parties like retailers(零售店), stadiums, and office buildings so that more people can benefit from this ease and convenience in more places, "Kumar added.

Though Amazon has introduced other ways to pay for goods at its physical stores. including the use of Cameras and an app linked to your Amazon account. Kumar explained palm recognition offers another level of privacy.

"We selected palm recognition for a few important reasons, Kumar wrote. "One reason was that palm recognition is considered more private than other biometric (生物统计的) identifiers because you can't determine a person's identity by looking at a picture of their palm. It also requires users to make an intentional gesture by holding their palm over the device to use. This puts customers in control of   when and where they use the service. What's more, it's contactless, which we think customers will appreciate, especially in current times.

To use Amazon One, people don't need an Amazon account, but simply phone number and a credit card. For those concerned about privacy, Kumar wrote, users can delete their biometric data if they decide they no longer want to use it.

1Which of the following best describes Amazon One?

A.Convenient and safe. B.Private and inexpensive.

C.Widespread and user-friendly D.Healthy and popular.

2From the first three paragraphs we can infer that_______.

A.Amazon One is designed for Amazon online stores.

B.Amazons' palm recognition technology is the best in the world.

C.Amazon One has not yet been used in places beyond Amazon stores.

D.Amazon provides various services for society.

3What makes palm recognition a better way to pay than using a camera and an app.

A.Palm recognition makes fewer mistakes.

B.Customers don't need to make intentional gestures.

C.Customers can use their palm to open an Amazon account.

D.Customers can control when and where to use it.
