Once upon a time, there was a man who had several sheep.

24、After-school programs were made available in all primary and middle schools, the Ministry of Education (教育部) said recently.

For students who have special needs, the programs can last even longer to solve the difficulties working parents have in picking up their children. The programs should help students finish their homework, tutor (指导) students who have difficulty in learning and organizing activities including reading, sports, interest groups and clubs. The programs should mainly be run by schoolteachers, who should be compensated (补偿) for the extra work, and allow for participation (参与) by outside professionals (专业人员) and volunteers.

The ministry said Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province, has been offering free after-school programs in all primary schools since 2017. All 84 primary and middle schools in Beijing’s Dongcheng District also offer such programs, which are attended by almost 80 percent of students, the ministry said.

More than 92 percent of parents expect schools to organize safe and colorful after-school programs for their children, according to a survey by China Youth Daily.

The survey of 1,605 parents found that 73 percent wanted the programs to cover tutoring and on-site(现场的) question-and-answer activities, while about 70 percent hoped teachers could guide their children with homework.

Xiong Bingqi, director of the 21st Century Education Research Institute in Beijing, said more choices should be given to schools. The activities they want to choose should be based on the needs of students and parents, so the programs do not become day care centers.

根据短文内容,判断下列句子正(T)误(F)。

【1】The programs help working parents solve the difficulties in picking up their children.

【2】Anyone in China can run the after-school programs according to the passage.

【3】The city of Nanjing has been offering free after-school programs in all primary schools for more than four years.

【4】Most of parents hope that schools organize safe and colorful after-school programs for children.

【5】Now all the schools in China have right to choose which activities they want to do.

25、As young students, you have many dreams. These dreams can be very big, such as .winning the Nobel Prize. They can also be small. You may just want to become one of the best students in your class.

Once you find a dream, what do you do with it ? Do you ever try to make your dream real?

"Follow Your Heart" by Australian writer Andrew Marthews tells us that making our dreams real is 1ife's biggest challenge.

You may think you're not very good at some school subjects or that it is impossible for you to become a writer.  "These kinds of ideas stop you from getting to your dream" the book says.

In fact, everyone can make his dream come tree. The first thing you must do is to remember what

your dream is.

Don't let it leave your heart. Keep telling yourself what you want every day and your dream will come true faster because a big dream is, in fact, many small dreams.

You must also never give up your dream. There will be difficulties on the road to your dreams. But the biggest difficulty comes from yourself. You need to decide what is the most important. Studying instead of watching TV will help you to get better exam results, while saving five Yuan instead of buying an ice cream means you can buy a new book.

As you get closer to your dream, it may change a little. This is good as you have the chance to learn something more useful and find new hobbies.

五、短文填空(共1题,共 5分)

28、Read the passage and fill in the blanks with proper words.

Dogs are very good pets. They are very friendly to people, because they are good companions. They are very patient and are good listeners and you can tell them your feelings and they’ll sit there and listen. You can tell them things you can’t tell anybody else.

Dogs are the perfect pet because they can keep you safe. They will bark when there is danger and they can s【1】 scare off strangers. If a stranger breaks into your house, your dog can protect you. They can also warn their owners of fire. Just in case of an earthquake, specially trained dogs can find people under buildings.

Dogs can be fantastic pets because they can help you get exercise. Dogs need to go out for a walk. Daily exercise can keep you at a healthy w【2】. It can also strengthen your bones and muscles. Exercise with a dog gives you a lot of energy.

Do dogs understand us? Be careful what you say around your dog. It might understand more than you think. Some researchers in Germany have made experiments. A border collie (边境牧羊犬) named Rico r【3】 the names of about 200 objects. The dog also appears to be able to learn new words as easily as a 3-year-old child. Its word-learning skills are as good as those of a parrot or chimpanzee. In one experiment, the researchers took all 200 items that Rico is supposed to know and divided them into 20 groups of 10 objects. Then the owner told the dog to go and fetch one of the items and bring it back. In four tests, Rico got 37 out of 40 c【4】 right. As the dog couldn’t see anyone to get clues, the researchers believe Rico must understand the meanings of certain words.

In another experiment, the researchers took one toy that Rico had never seen before and put it in a room with seven toys whose names the dog already knew. The owner then told Rico to fetch the object, using a word the dog had never heard before. The c【5】 object was chosen in seven out of 10 tests, suggesting that the dog had worked out the answer by process of elimination (排除法). A month later, Rico remembered half of the new names, which is even more impressive. Rico is thought to be smarter than the a【6】 dog. For one thing, Rico is a border collie, a breed (种) known for its mental abilities. In addition, the 9-year-old dog has been trained to fetch toys by their names since the age of nine months.

It’s hard to know if all dogs understand at least some of the words we say. Even if they do, they can’t talk back. Still, it wouldn’t hurt to your dog every now and then. You might just get a big, wet kiss in return!

We believe dogs are good pets because they can be fun to play with. They also make us r【7】 because we have to take care of it. Whenever you’re bored, a dog will always be there to play with you. Raising a dog is hard, but there are a lot of benefits.
