21、   Constantly regret spending too much time on your phone but just cannot stop? You are not alone. Here are five tips from Prof. Mark Griffiths psychologist and behavioral addiction expert at Nottingham Trent University to help you live well with your phone.

Step it down gradually

The urge to check your phone can become reflexive and habitual. For some going a few minutes without checking their phone is difficult. If this sounds like you try to go 15 minutes without doing it. Once you realize this is possible increase the length of time you avoid checking to 30 minutes an hour and then a few hours or a day.

Monitor usage

Download an app that will tell you how much time you're spending online. This could make you aware of a problem—the first step to a solution.

Buy an alarm clock

Don’t use your phone as an alarm or you might be tempted(诱惑) to check texts and emails last thing at night and as soon as you wake up. Instead ban phones from the bedroom. Designate bedtimes and mealtimes as smartphone-free zones. Consider buying a clock so you're no longer tempted by emails and texts when you check the time.

Spring clean your contacts

How many online friends do you actually speak to? Reduce alerts and distractions by removing contacts on social networking sites deleting unused apps and unsubscribing from groups that offer little benefit. Consider deleting any games that are taking up a lot of your time.

Learn to wait

Be mindful of the benefits of not regularly checking your phone. People who react to messages as they arrive tend to write longer responses than those who wait and deal with them all as a block. Waiting will gain you time to spend on other activities.

1According to the passage which of the following can help ban phones from the bed ?

A.Monitoring usage. B.Using a clock.

C.Cleaning contacts. D.Learning to wait.

2It can be learnt from the passage that_________.

A.games take up more time than other apps

B.reacting to messages in time is important

C.people are often tempted to use cell phones

D.people shouldn’t check emails by cell phones

3The purpose of the article is to_________.

A.introduce ways to manage phone usages

B.emphasize the harm of using cellphones

C.persuade readers to get rid of cellphones

D.explain multiple functions of cellphones

22、The Jewish(犹太人)family-had-just finished supper and the woman had placed the dishes in the sink. The kitchen was quite damp and even gloomier than in the main room.It was their third apartment since the start of the war, they had abandoned the other two in a hurry. The woman came back into the room and sat down again at the table. The 3-year-old boy sat with his back straight, his eyes fixed on his father, but it was obvious that he was so sleepy that he could barely sit up.

The man was smoking a cigarette. His eyes were blood-shot and he kept blinking in a funny way. This blinking had begun soon after they fled the second apartment.

It was late, past ten o'clock and they could have gone to sleep, but first they had to play the game that they had been playing every day for two weeks.Even though the man tried his best and he moved very quickly, the fault was his and not the child's.The boy was.marvelous.Seeing his father put out his cigarette,he opened his blue eyes even wider. The woman, who didn't actually take part in the game, stroked the boy's hair.

“We'll play the key game just one more time only today.Isn't that right?"she asked her husband.

He didn't answer because he was not sure. They were still two or three minutes off. He arose and walked towards the bathroom door. Then the woman called out softly,“Ding-dong."At the sound of the bell ringing so musically from his mother's lips, the boy jumped up from his chair and ran to the front door, which was separated from the main room by a narrow corridor.

“Who's there?"he asked.

The woman, remaining in her chair, shut her eyes tight as if feeling a sudden, sharp pain.

“I'll open up in a minute,I'm just looking for the keys,"the child called out. Then he ran back to the main room, making a lot of noise with his feet.He ran in circles around the table, pulled out one of the sideboard drawers, and slammed it shut.

“Just a minute,I can't find them,I don't know where Mama put them,"he yelled, then dragged the chair across the room, climbed onto it,and reached up to the top of the shelf.

“I found them!”he shouted triumphantly. Then he got down from the chair, pushed it back to the table, and calmly walked to the door and opened it.

“Shut the door, darling,"the woman said softly."You were perfect.”

The child didn't hear what she said.He stood in the middle of the room, staring at the closed bathroom door.

“Shut the door, the woman repeated in a tired flat voice.Every evening she repeated the same words, and every evening he stared at the closed bathroom door.

At last it opened. The man was pale and his clothes were streaked with lime and dust.He stood there, eyes blinking in that funny way.

“Well? How did it go?"asked the woman.

“I still need more time.He has to look for them longer.I slip in sideways all right, but then...It's so tight in there that when I turn...And he's got to make more noise-he should stamp his feet louder."

The child didn't take his eyes off him.

“Say something to him,"the woman whispered.

"You did a good job, little one,"he said mechanically.

“That's right,”the woman said,“you're really doing a wonderful job, darling. You act just like a grown-up.And you do know that if someone should really ring the doorbell when Mama is at work, everything will depend on you?And what will you say when they ask you about your parents?”

“Mama's at work.”

“And Papa?"He was silent.

“And Papa?"the man screamed in terror. The child turned pale.

“And Papa?”the man repeated more calmly.

“He's dead,”"the child answered and threw himself at his father, who was standing right beside him,but already long dead to the people who would really ring the bell.

23、Even people who tend to think conventionally, such as accountants, can be creative, a recent study suggests, if they can look at emotional situations in a different light. In a set of experiments, researchers found that conventional thinkers came up with more creative ideas than peers after they practised “emotional reappraisal”. This means viewing a situation through another emotional lens, such as trying to see an anger-inducing event as one that is neutral or hopeful.

The study indicates that creativity is something that can be trained.“Whenever we break away from our existing perspective and try to think about something that’s different from our initial reaction, there’s a creative element to it. If we can practise or train that flexible-thinking muscle, it may help us be more creative over time,”said lead author Lily Zhu, an assistant professor at Washington State University.

For the study, Zhu and her colleagues conducted two similar experiments. In the first experiment with 335 people recruited through a crowdsourcing platform, the participants were first ranked on their openness levels and then shown a film scene designed to elicit (引起) anger. While viewing, they were given different instructions: to suppress their emotions, to think about something else to distract themselves or to try emotional reappraisal—looking at the scene through another lens. Some were also given no instruction on how to regulate their feelings.

After viewing the film, the participants were asked to come up with an idea to use an empty space in their building. Those ideas were then evaluated by a panel of experts who did not know anything about the participants. Ideas such as using the space for “napping capsules” were considered highly creative whereas ideas like opening a similar cafeteria as before were considered low in creativity.

The next experiment had a different group of 177 participants write about an experience that made them angry. They were then tasked with either writing about it again from a different emotional perspective or writing about something else as a distraction.

In both experiments, conventional thinking participants who tried emotional reappraisal came up with more creative ideas than other conventional thinkers who used suppression, distraction or no emotional regulation strategy at all. Notably, for participants who were considered creative thinkers to begin with, emotional reappraisal did not seem to have much effect on their creativity.

As to the implications of the study, Zhu suggested that supervisors in workplace should develop trainings to cultivate creative thinking skills in employees. Individuals can also practise emotional reappraisal when confronted with a crisis or challenge instead of suppressing negative emotions.

【1】Which of the following is most probably an example of emotional reappraisal?

A.Considering an occurrence objectively.

B.Taking one’s success as an opportunity.

C.Distracting oneself from an annoying event.

D.Regarding disappointment as a turning point.

C.the research findings could be applied to the training of employees

D.the first experiment aimed to select the most creative design

24、   If a president, a philosopher, and one of the best-selling writers credited the same secret for their success, would you try to follow it too? What if the secret was something you already knew how to do? In fact, you probably do it every day. Here’s what Friedrich Nietzsche wrote: “It is only ideas gained from walking that have any worth.” Thomas Jefferson: “Walking is the best possible exercise.” Charles Dickens: “If I could not walk far and fast, I think I should just explode and die.”

Researchers have found quite a lot of connections between walking and producing ideas. A Stanford University study found that participants were 81 percent more creative when walking as opposed to sitting. According to the study, walking outside-compared with on a treadmill(跑步机)-produces the most novel and highest-quality ideas.

The movement aspect of walking is obviously key. Our creative thinking is triggered(触发) by physical movement, which is exactly why walking-with your dog, a friend, or alone - feeds creative thinking.

The scenery is almost as important as the sweat. Breaking your routine with a walk can be a catalyst for fresh understanding of problems or projects. Just by going outside, you are stepping out of your familiar surroundings and your comfort zone, which is necessary if you want to open your mind to new possibilities. You can walk through a tree-filled neighborhood. You can walk through a park and observe people joking or birds singing. Being inside, you’re more likely to be lifeless, which means you don’t have enough energy to wonder or create.

So instead of setting a fitness goal, why not set a creativity goal that starts with walking? Involve yourself more closely in your surroundings. Turn off your phone and give yourself the chance to be present in the world, to hear conversations and natural sounds, and to notice the way people move and the way the sun reflects in a puddle(小水坑).

【1】How does the author introduce the topic?

A.By providing background.

A.Promoter.

B.Cure.

C.Hope.

D.Must.

【3】What can we learn from the passage?

A.Nature exploration improves fitness.

B.Walking on a treadmill brings more energy.

C.Working indoors makes people less creative.

D.Familiar surroundings encourage novel ideas.

【4】What can be a suitable title for the text?

A.Exercise in Nature.

B.Train Your Brain.

C.Develop Your Creativity.

D.Walk for Wonder.
