The popular tablet is not only useful for searching the Internet and watching videos, but it is also being used to make learning fun.
Scientists now know that we learn better when we are enjoying ourselves, so recently software developers have made iPad applications(应用程序) look like video games, but have strong educational content. One of the best examples of this new form of teaching application is Futaba, a game in which up to four children try to recognize a spinning object, and then identify what it is. The game can be used to teach English, maths, foreign languages, or just about anything, and students love it. Teachers can even make their own questions. The important thing is that children enjoy the game, and don’t even realize how much they are learning!

22、 Over the last century, many building trends(潮流)have come and gone. But the buildings designed (设计) by Ieoh Ming Pei, one of the world's best-known architects (建筑), have not. The designs of this Chinese-American architects stands as his special talents to the whole world. However, the man behind the famous buildings died on May 16, at age 102.
During his long work life, Pei has left over 50 buildings with different styles (风格) around the world. According to him, it is dangerous for an architect to be marked with only one style. Instead, he was known for his eclectic style, bringing together opposite ideas into each design-East and West, ancient and modern, natural and man-made.
His style may come from his life experiences. He was born and grew up in China, and then he went to the US to study architecture at 18. He studied at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and later at Harvard. "I've never left China, because home is a place your heart always belongs to", he once said.
Pei tried to include local (当地的) and historical ideas in his designs. When designing Suzhou Museum in the 2000s, Pei made the building go with the city. He built small halls with traditional white walls and dark roofs (屋顶), just like the classical Chinese gardens which Suzhou are famous for. At the same time, the lines and the windows in the roof bring something modern to the museum.
Even in Pei's 80s when he was designing the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar, he still kept learning new things. He spent months in the Middle East visiting special places. "A lasting building will always find the place where it comes from," Pei said. That may explain why he and his designs have stood the test of time.

23、 A habit is an action that we have acted so often that it becomes something we do almost without thinking. Some of them are not good habits. People spend many hours and dollars each year trying to give up ( 放 弃 ) these bad habits but often fail. Why? Change is hard work and there is no shortcut to get it. However, there is still some advice for you to follow.
First, look at why you do it. In other words, what’s the result of doing this thing? If your bad habit is shouting at people when you are unhappy or under pressure(压力), what do you get from it? It may make you feel a little better for the moment. Or maybe you have a bad habit of leaving your homework undone. The result could be that you get more time to spend on the Internet!
Next, take a look on the other hand. What are you losing because of your habit? Shouting at other people is a bad habit because it makes people around you feel bad and unhappy. Leaving your homework undone is a bad habit because you may be punished by your teacher. Having more Internet time means that you are losing the chance to learn the things you need to learn. When you think that way, you’ll find that it’s not wise to keep your bad habit! Now it is time to make a decision. What will you choose? I’m sure you will choose to do something that is more important.

24、 The novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP, 新型冠状病毒肺炎) outbreak in China was caused by a new coronavirus that we have never seen before. It was first found in the Huanan Seafood Market in Wuhan, where a variety of wild animals were on sale. People who sold and bought animals illegally were the first to be infected.
Scientists have found that the virus likely came from bats and was then spread to humans from pangolins (穿山甲). According to Live Science, bats can carry and spread more than 60 viruses that can infect humans. They include the world’s deadliest viruses, such as Ebola and SARS. But bats have special immune systems that allow them to live with viruses without getting sick. Other wild animals like snakes and hedgehogs (刺猬) are also hosts of many viruses.
There have been calls for people to stop eating wild animals. However, the danger is not just in eating them, but also in touching them. People can get infected if they come into contact with the body fluids (体液) of wild animals. People who hunt, kill, sell or eat these animals run the risk of becoming infected.
Keeping wild animals as pets or selling parts of their bodies as animal products also create risks for humans. It is highly possible to come into contact with the body fluids of wild animals in this way.
“Trade and consumption of wild animals of all kinds should be banned,” Zeng Guang, chief epidemiologist (流行病学家) at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told China Daily. “Otherwise people will suffer.”
