21、 Teenagers believe anything is possible if they study hard. But they often forget to think about healthy diets, enough sleep time and exercise. In fact, these things are really important for them to keep fit.
It is important for teenagers to get enough energy. Teenage girls need about 2,200 calories a day while boys need a bit more—doctors suggest 2,800 for teenage boys.50% of their calories should come from healthy food—rice, vegetables and fruit. People often say an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Teenagers also need to drink a lot of water,6 to 8 glasses a day. Drinking enough water will improve their skin.

A report shows that without a good night’s sleep, teenagers seem to be weaker than they should be. Too much homework is not the only reason why teenagers stay up late. Some watch TV or play computer games late into the night. Teenagers should develop good study habits. So some clever students never study late, but they are able to work well in class.

22、Hotels are no longer the first or the only choice for travelers in China to sleep in at night. A new type of accommodation(住宿)choice called bed-and-breakfast(B&B)is welcoming more visitors in China.
During this month’s Golden Week, bookings for the B&B in China grew by 400 percent from 2016, according to the B&B booking website tujia.com.
Starting in Europe, B&B is often a private family home. Travellers pay to stay overnight and have breakfast. In China, many B&Bs are in rural(农村的)areas and more about fun, experiences and new friendships, reported by China Daily.
“The meals are cooked by the host. Very often, vegetables are homegrown. Hosts and guests chat over the meal and play with the pets together,” Yu Minliang, a 23-year-old tourist from Shanghai, told China Daily.
However, as more B&Bs come out, the service sometimes may not be good enough. Some guests complained the soundproofing(隔音)was bad and the house was dirty.
To solve the problem, the first national industry standards were carried out on Oct.1. For example, every B&B should provide not more than 14 guest rooms and things like towels and sheets must be changed after every visitor.

Dear Mike, I like to think that I am a helpful girl. I often help my classmates with their study. But lately the students in my class have been hiding their notes from each other. They seem to be afraid that others are better than them. Shouldn’t we be helping each other? I feel like I am in a fog. What should I do? Madeline |
Dear Madeline, You’re right — everyone should be helping each other instead of being so competitive. But that’s the world we live in these days. Many people think they have to “beat” everyone else. Some people around you will judge you on everything — from the grades you get in school to the clothes you wear. So what do you do about this? Just try to be different. Be the one who stands up and says that people should help each other instead of competing all the time. Try to be helpful and kind to other people. It may seem impossible sometimes, but your behavior will start to influence others. You can be the one who changes the way people treat each other. And even if some of those people still don’t change, you at least know that you tried your best to change things. Mike |
