22、Some people say that friendship is the only channel through which human beings can ever experience the value of life. In our daily life, it is likely that you share some common interests with others-they may like the same sport, go to the same school or like the same kind of music as you do. Since you often meet them, they become your acquaintances (相识的人). Although some people develop many acquaintances, only a few become their good friends in their lifetime because there are differences between acquaintances and friends.
It is said that true friendship begins when someone knows what you are really like, but still likes you anyway. A true friend shows loyalty (忠诚)from the very beginning of the relationship. A friend will go through challenges to help you without expecting anything in return. A "friend" today may probably become a "true friend" tomorrow when they get involved in unexpected circumstances (条件)together with you-for example, when you are going through a difficult experience and your friend is there to help you out. However, some acquaintances might leave you when you badly need their help. At this time, you can experience what true friendship is.
In our life, some people seem to go through life with plenty of friends. They may be funny or they may have a bright and pleasant personality (性格). For these people, wherever they go, people seem to like them and welcome their company. But when they go through challenging life experiences, some of their friends are not there to help them. Therefore we can say some of their friends are not real friends and their friendship is just skin-deep.
However, others seem to go through life with no friends at all. They like to be alone, to travel by themselves or to do their own things. It's a pity that few of these people find success in life because they have no friends. They lack the best gift in life-friendship.

23、 In 1931, Francis Chichester tried to fly round the world but failed. Then he gave up flying and began sailing. Chichester was already 58 years old when he won the first solo(单人的)transatlantic sailing race.
After that, his old dream of going round the world came back, but this time he would sail. His friends and doctors did not think he could do it, as he had lung cancer. 24、John Keats was an English poet, whose poetry described the beauty of the natural world and art as the vehicle for his poetic imagination. Regarded as one of the English language’s most naturally gifted poets, John Keats wrote poetry that concentrated on imagination, human nature, and philosophy. Although Keats didn’t receive much formal literary education, his own studies and passion brought him much success. Besides, his own life situation influenced his poetry greatly.
Growing up as a young kid in London in a lower, middle-class family, the young John didn’t attend a private school, but went to public school in Enfield, near his home. His teachers and his family’s friends regarded him as an optimistic boy who liked playing and fighting much more than minding his studies. After his father’s death in the early 1800s, followed by his mother’s passing away due to illness, he began to view life differently. He wanted to escape the world and did so by reading anything he could get his hands on.
At around the age of 16, John Keats began studying under a surgeon so that he too might become a doctor. However, his love for literature had taken too much of his time, especially with his addiction to the poetry of Edmund Spenser. Within two months in 1817, Keats had written an entire volume of poetry that would be published, but was criticized sharply in Blackwood’s Magazine. However, it didn’t stop him.
John Keats’ next work to be published was Endymion, which he wrote in 1817 and was published in May 1818. The story tells a boy who falls in love with the moon goddess and leads him to an adventure of one boy’s hope to overcome the limitations of being human. Following Endymion, he wrote Isabella. His next work was Hyperion that would attempt to combine all he learned. However, an attack of tuberculosis(肺结核) while visiting Italy kept him from his work and took his life in 1821.
【1】What changed John Keats’ attitude towards life?
A.The poetry of Edmund Spenser.
B.His early education at school.
C.The criticism from a magazine.
D.The death of his parents.
【2】What do we know from the text?
A.Keats spent two months writing a poem in 1817.
B.Keats hardly received education at school.
C.Keats had an affection for Edmund’s poetry
D.Endymion tells of Keats’ love story.
【3】What can be inferred from the text?
A.Edmund Spenser was a famous doctor.
B.Hyperion might remain uncompleted.
C.Keats’ family must be very poor.
D.Keats rewrote his poem Isabella.
25、Among one of the strange experiences of modern life is one that happens to me, though not just to me: I’ll meet a friend for a drink and he will ________some book or product he thinks I’ll like. Then within days—without searching for it online-I'll start seeing ________ web ads for it.
________ there's a rumor that Facebook uses the microphone in your phone to eavesdrop (窃听) on your conversations.
However, that's almost certainly ________. The truth is that apps and websites have already collected so much of your data that they have no ________ for eavesdropping.
But there's another reason Big Tech ________ us so much better than we think, which is that each of us is far more normal than we realize. Take myself as an example: both Facebook and my friend will make almost the same recommendation because my interests are far less special, and thus more ________than I'd like to believe.
"You're not so special" is a message sometimes delivered as an offence. It is at other times interpreted as tough ________, as in the speech by the American high-school teacher David McCullough. His aim was to urge students not to make themselves painful by struggling to prove they're the ________ of the universe.
Given almost any general definition of the term and all things being ________, it probably ________ your intelligence is normal. Without any value judgment, that's all the word "normal" and your taste in culture: chances are they're much less ________ or extreme than you think. Or to put it another way:________ you're special is just one more way in which you're normal, which explains why most people think they're above average at many things.
Don't feel ________ by the thought of being normal, though. "Never forget that every mind ________ by the most ordinary experience, "wrote French poet Paul Valery.
