24、   My hobby is collecting stickers (贴画). It is also one of the most popular hobbies among children. Children enjoy this pastime (消遣)because it is not an expensive hobby.

I have started collecting stickers since I was four years old. My hobby began through the influence of my neighbour, Wilfred. One day when I was playing in his house, he showed me his stacks of sticker albums (专辑). I was amazed to see so many colourful stickers of all shapes and sizes. He gave me a few pieces from his collection. My interest in stickers started from that day.

I kept my first set of stickers in a notebook but my subsequent collections were kept in beautiful boxes. By keeping the stickers in boxes. I can exchange some of my stickers with my friends.

After my family members knew my hobby of collecting stickers, they began to buy stickers for me whenever they came across nice ones. I love those stickers from my cousin who is an air hostess. She bought them from different countries around the world.

During my free time, I often bring out all my lovely collections, lay them on the ground and enjoy them. Some of my friends are jealous of my collections as I don't exchange my unique (独一无二的)stickers with them.

25、Nearly eight hundred million people in this world cannot read or write, most of them in developing countries. Two-thirds are women and girls.

John Wood who started the Room to Read campaign(运动), has opened 1,650 schools and 15,000 libraries in some of the world’s poorest communities(社区). He said that from the beginning, Room to Read’s goal was to reach 10 million children around the world in the poorest countries.

In 1998, on a three-week vacation journey in Nepal, Wood met a local headmaster who invited him to visit his school in a far mountain village. The experience changed Wood’s life.

“This headmaster had 450 students at the school, but he didn’t have any books,” Wood said.” He had a library that was empty.”

Wood promised to fill the library shelves and returned to the village year later with some of his friends with 3,000 books. And that was just the start. Later, Wood used some of his personal money to start Room to Read. He believes that world change begins with educated children. Today, the programme can be found in 10 countries across Asia and Africa.

Wood believes the key to the program’s success is local support .While Room to Read gives away money and provides books, communities offer land and parents help build the school. Agnes, a Room to Read teacher in Zambia who also runs the library, is proud to say the literacy at her school has improved. Room to Read’s biggest challenge is the huge need. Hundreds of communities have asked for literacy programmes. One way of Room to Read’s success is that it will achieve Wood’s goal of reaching 10 million kids by 2015, five years earlier than it is planned.

26、Everyone has dreams and goals for the future. But why do you still end up with nothing? What separates success people from the dreamers is their persistent(饮而不舍的)action. You will often find some of your lessons in school very hard. Try and keep trying, and you’ll be sure to successfully deal with any difficulty you meet with.

This is the famous formula(公式)for success:

Dream > Believe > Achieve

Most people have what they want(Dream)and think they can realize their dreams(Believe). But they do nothing. When they get tired waiting and lose a lot, they get bored.

I personally believe that if you really want to achieve your dreams and goals in life, you have to add one thing to your success formula:

Dream > Believe > Act > Achieve

For me, act is the most important thing for success, and that’s to Take Persistent Action(Act). “I’ll try” creates wonders. Let’s remember that there will be difficulties in our life. We must face them bravely and solve them. Most successful people made their dreams come true because of their persistent action.

Please remember: Action is the bridge that connects our dreams and goals to reality.
