资阳2024-2025学年第二学期期末教学质量检测试题(卷)初一英语

一、翻译题(共1题,共 5分)

1、   1. A person who believes in himself will keep trying to reach his goal no matter how many times he fails. In my opinion, the quality of determination to succeed is an important one to have.

Therefore, I believe that we should never give up.

One reason is that if we give up too easily, we will rarely achieve anything. If we always give up when we fail, we will not be able to develop new skills and grow.

 2. Another reason we should never give up is that we can learn from our mistakes only if we make a new effort. If we do not try again, the lesson we have learned is wasted.

24、   Tornadoes(龙卷风) are one of the worst weather events on earth. Each year, tornadoes kill many people. The storms often carry homes, cars and trees from one place to another. And they can also destroy anything when they pass by.

A tornado comes from a thunderstorm(雷雨) in the sky down to the ground. It is big at the top and small at the bottom.

A tornado appears when winds in different directions meet in the cloud and begin to turn to circle. People can see tornadoes almost everywhere in the world. But weather scientists say most of them are in the United States. Each year the United States has more than one thousand tornadoes.

These tornadoes can happen at any time of the year. But most happen from late winter to middle summer. There is a second high season in November. During spring, warm air moves north and mixes with the cold air left from winter. In November, the opposite happens. Cold air moves south and mixes with the warm air left from summer.

Tornadoes always come suddenly. Weather scientists have done something to predict(预测) tornadoes. But the storms often move too fast for people to protect themselves. Last year, tornadoes killed more than one hundred people in the United States.

Scientists say the best place to be in is a small room, without a window, in the middle the lowest part of a building when tornadoes come.

What should a kid that does karate (空手道) do over the summer? Braden chose to teach karate to people who might never have a chance to learn it. He created a class for disabled adults at a center that offers job training for them. The class was very popular.

26、   In Germany there are different kinds of high schools. Some prepare students for workers, others prepare them for college. All schools are great places for making friends and learning German.

Most high schools in Germany begin at about 8:00 a.m. and end at about 3:30 p.m. This means your morning will be busy with classes. You will have time to do homework and take part in private clubs after school.

Most students take public transport to school or ride a bicycle. Some areas have school buses. It is not common for parents to drive students to school.

In Germany, teachers and students’ relationship is more formal than you might be used to. Teachers are respected and students must use the formal “Sie (德语 )” when talking to teachers.

In many countries, schools offer official sports and after-school activities. This is less common in Germany. After-school activities are usually organized through private clubs. There are clubs for things like soccer, dance, theatre and almost everything else. Once you are in Germany, walk around at school and talk to other students to find out what private clubs are in your area and meet your interest.

Each of Germany’s 16 states has its own slightly different school systems. The school system in Brandenburg will be a little different from the system in Bavaria for example. Where you live, your knowledge level and your age will decide what school you can attend.
