23、 I felt very sad because I was not able to get a ticket to the film Hero last Friday. I learned from the newspaper that tickets could be bought at the cinema box office in Richland Hills any day between 10:00 a. m. and 4:00 p. m. Since I work from 9:00 a. m. to 5:30 p. m., the only time I could go to the cinema is during my 45 minutes’ lunchtime. It is a pity that the cinema is on the other side of the town and the bus service between my company and Richland Hills is not very good. But if I am lucky, I can make the round trip in 45 minutes.
Last Monday, I stood at the bus stop for 15 minutes waiting for a bus. By the time I saw one come around the corner, there was not enough time left to make the trip, so I had to go back. The same thing happened on Tuesday, and again on Wednesday. On Thursday my luck changed. I got on a bus right away and arrived at the cinema in twenty minutes. But when I got there, I found a long line of people at the box office. I heard one man said he had been waiting in line for over an hour. I found I would not have enough time to wait in line. I caught the next bus and went back across the town.
By Friday I understood my only hope was to make the trip by car. It was expensive, but I felt it would be worth it to see the film. The trip by car only took 10 minutes, but it felt like an hour to me. When I reached the cinema, I was delighted to see that nobody was waiting in line. But I quickly found out that it was because they had already sold out all the tickets.

24、 Clothes are important and necessary to us, but do you know how to choose suitable clothes in a correct way? Here are some ideas for you.
When you go shopping and want to buy some clothes, you should think about which kind of clothes you really need and decide how much money you can spend on them. Then look at the labels(标签) that are inside the new clothes. They tell you how to take care of the clothes. The label for a shirt may tell you to wash it in warm water. A sweater label may tell you to wash it in cold water. The label on a coat may say “dry clean only” and cleaning in water may ruin (损坏) this coat. If you do as the directions say on the label, you can keep your clothes looking their best.
Many clothes today must be dry-cleaned. Dry cleaning is expensive. When buying new clothes, you had better check if they need to be dry-cleaned. You can save money if you buy clothes that can be washed or that are well made. Well-made clothes last longer. They look good even after they have been washed many times.
Clothes that cost more money don’t always mean they are better made. They may not fit you, either. On the other hand, less expensive clothes may sometimes look better and fit you well.
【1】The first thing for you to do before you buy clothes is ________
A.to know how to wash them B.to look for well-made clothes

T【4】 find out, scientists need to know if Mars ever had water. In 2004, two robot explorers(探测器), or ‘rovers’, called Spirit and Opportunity were sent to look for【5】(sign) of water. These rovers can drive over rocks 【6】 all kinds of rough ground. They can also use cameras and send photos back to Earth. 【7】(one), the two rovers found chemicals and patterns(图纹) in the rocks that were probably 【8】(make) by water. Then, they moved to another area and found other rocks w【9】 may have been created by water. Now scientists think there was probably water on the planet long ago. Today they are still not sure if there was life on Mars. They 【10】(real) need more information to decide. The discoveries of the two rovers answered some old questions, but they also brought up many new ones.
