21、Do you plan to go to Hong Kong Disneyland with your family this summer? If your dad smokes, you may have to ask him to be careful because Hong Kong bans(禁止) smoking in most public places.
These places include restaurants, workplaces, schools and so on. Even smoking in some outdoor places is not allowed(允许), such as beaches, sports grounds, museums and most areas of public parks.
Hong Kong hopes the ban can stop passive(被动的) smoking. What is passive smoking? When people smoke in a restaurant or on a bus, others have to smoke too. They don’t want to smoke but they have no choice(选择). This is passive smoking. It is bad for people’s health. And it’ll be better if more people in Hong Kong give up smoking because of the ban.
Jack Lee, a 26-year-old student in Hong Kong, says, “The ban is really good. I don’t like people smoking next to me. It’s so smoky and smelly.”
If someone breaks the ban, he will be fined HK $ 5,000.

On Aug. 9, when three teenagers in Lu’an, Anhui Province, played near a river, they never thought that two of them wouldn’t come back home. Two of the teenagers drowned(溺死)in the river.
Accidents like these happen every summer. According to the World Health Organization, drowning is the leading cause(主要原因)of death for children under 14 years of age in China. Around 57,000 people drown each year in the country, Xinhua reported.
To stop accidents like these from happening, we must be careful while playing near water or swimming in it. First, it’s never too late to learn how to swim. Having swimming skills can probably save you from drowning. For example, you should know how to float(漂浮)on your back.
In movies, drowning people often shout for help. But in reality, they simply go under and don’t come up again. If you see that someone has gone underwater and hasn’t come out for a while, he or she could be drowning.
It’s also important to swim only in areas where there are lifeguards. Never swim alone. The Ministry of Emergency Management says you should not try to save someone who is drowning on your own. Instead, ask nearby adults for help and call 119 or 120 at once.

Last month, Mr and Mrs White invited most of the neighbours to their garden for an “all-day food festival”. They asked us to bring gloves and arrive early in the morning. We didn’t know what would take place.
By 9:00 a.m., there were nine of us in the garden picking tomatoes, beans and other vegetables. At lunch, there were lots of laughs. We shared a lot of stories. After dinner, we played games. Before we left, Mr and Mrs White gave each of us a shopping bag filled with vegetables. What a great gift!
Of course I loved the green vegetables, but I loved the happy time being with my neighbours more. Mr and Mrs White were so nice that they helped us learn from each other better. Now Mr and Mrs White have a blog about gardening. They teach us to grow vegetables online. And I can’t wait to see my tomato plants bear fruit (结果实).
