One always had to guess what he was saying. And most of my classmates did not like to be with him because his hands and shirts were always dirty. I tried to make him know the importance of being clean by telling him several times a day to wash his hands. But he just could not understand.
One day, our teacher Miss Miller walked up to Ted. Without saying anything, she took Ted to the washroom. Slowly, Miss Miller washed his hands and told him that he should keep himself clean. She did that every day for one month. Finally, Ted understood.
Miss Miller’s love has given me a good example to follow when I am doing my job. I always remember to teach my students by showing them the right ways to do things. And most important of all, I always remember to give them more time to learn and to grow up.

22、
Scientists from England made some robots that look like fish. The robots can swim just like fish does. Scientists will put these fish robots into the sea near Spain this year. These fish robots will help people find out the pollution in water and they can also be used in saving the lives. If the fish robot is able to finish their work successfully, scientists hope they can be used in waters around the world.
The fish robot is about 1.5 meters long. It can swim as fast as swimmers at a speed (速度) of 0.5 meters a second (秒). There is a detector (探测器) in their bodies. The detector can find the pollution in the water, and then the fish robots will eat part of it. It can also help to find lives in the water and bring them to the beach.
The robots all have a special battery (电池). Because of it, the robots can “swim” for eight hours in the sea freely and don’t get tired from doing the same stroke (泳姿) again and again. So, they send back information to people on the beach efficiently (高效地). When their energy runs down, they will go back to the beach by themselves. But the study shows that these robots have some flaws. Scientists say there are still some things that need to be improved. The robots are not ready to take the place of humans.
Now, there are five fish robots in all. The cost (花费) of them are too high now. Each costs about 29,000 dollars. They are part of a three-year program between engineering company BMT Group and Essex University in England.
【1】What can we know about the fish robots?
A.They can swim just like fish does.
B.Scientists from America made them.
C.They will be put into the sea near Spain next year.
【2】Why the robots can “swim” for eight hours in the sea freely and don’t get tired?
A.Because they have a special battery.
B.Because they have a detector.
C.Because they don’t need the energy.
【3】What does the underlined word “flaws” mean in Chinese?
A.用处
B.进展
C.缺点
【4】How much do the five robots cost?
A.About 29,000 dollars.
B.About 145,000 dollars.
C.About 14,500 dollars.
【5】What is the passage mainly about?
A.The introduction of the fish robots.
B.The pollution of the water.
C.The lives of the fish.
23、What should we do if one of our classmates suddenly falls ill or gets hurt? Here are some steps you should follow. But always remember to look for medical care after first aid(急救) if the wound is serious.
Broken bones(骨头): Take away clothing from the wound. Use an ice pack. Don’t move the hurt body part while waiting for the doctor to arrive.
Animal bites(咬伤): Wash the bite area with soap and water. Pack the wound with a clean cloth if it is bleeding. If the bleeding has stopped, cover the area with a bandage and take the person to the hospital. Make sure you remember what kind of animal it is so the doctor can find the right way to treat him or her at once.
Fainting(昏厥): Have him or her lie with feet lifted a little. Don’t move the body if you think there might be wounds from the fall. Make sure he or she can breathe and let in fresh air. Clean the person’s face with a cool cloth.
Nosebleeds: Have the person sit up with his or her head tilted(倾斜) forward a little. Do not have the person tilt his or her head back because this may cause heavy breathing or coughing. Pinch(捏) the lower part of the nose for at least 10 minutes.
