二、阅读理解(共4题,共 20分)

21、   La Belle Personne is boring, but I love it. The 2008 French film features extremely softened and washed-out colors, a relatively uneventful plotline, and lifeless performances from the main characters, all of which give the film its unique charm.

The plain beauty of La Belle Personne comes not from its extremely unique plot, but rather its literary elements. Of course, the film is visually pretty lacking in liveliness. An editor must have purposely and smartly dealt with every single shot. The dominating colors in each of these shots are a vivid black, grey and white, making for a melancholic(忧郁的)atmosphere. While one could easily view this lack of vividness as exhausting,I would argue that it makes for a beautifully unconventional cinematic experience.

There are no artificial mental spark stimulated by the visuals, and the viewers must therefore sit with themselves for an hour and a half, reflecting on what the piece personally means to them and how it genuinely makes them feel. Aside from a few major plot points, nothing terribly remarkable happens in La Belle Personne. It's more like a lazy river under grey skies where the water is slightly too cold. But if you relax, your body temperature adjusts and you can sit back and just enjoy the ride.

Although our current world may be both literally and symbolically on fire, it's no secret that campus life in and of itself is considerably more boring than usual. With no parties to attend, most classes online, and the majority of clubs limited to Zoom Meetings, waking up every day might feel a bit more tedious. However, just like La Belle Personne has shown us, it's important to appreciate your environment for what it is. In terms of campus life, sometimes it's not so horrible for things to be slow-paced, as it allows space for reflection and being present.

1What do we know about La Belle Personne from the first paragraph?

A.It enjoys high popularity.

B.It owns special artistic charm.

C.It applies modern techniques.

D.It features lively performances.

2What can we infer from Paragraphs 2 and 3 about the film?

A.All its viewers feel positive on it.

B.It gives viewers a sense of ridiculousness.

C.It suits those preferring sensory stimulation.

D.It is worth tasting slowly and heart-wholly.

3What does underlined word “tedious" in the last paragraph probably mean?

A.Boring. B.Painstaking. C.Impractical. D.Unnecessary.

4What is the purpose of this text?

A.To show the importance of going to the movies.

B.To recommend people to enjoy an unique movie.

C.To introduce a way to appreciate a certain movie.

D.To call for a slow-paced and positive school life.

22、On Sunday, April 23, almost 50, 000 athletes took to the streets to compete in the 37th London Marathon. While few were able to get even close to Daniel Wanjiru's 2:05:48 winning time, none were as slow as Tom Harrison, who crawled to the finish line, six days later, on Apri730.

However, the Metropolitan Police officer, who was dressed in a gorilla (大猩猩) suit, had a good reason for his slowness. He had completed the 26.2 miles on all fours to raise funds to help gorilla conservation efforts in Africa. The 41-year-old who spent an average 8—10 hours on his hands and knees, covered about 4.5miles each day before crashing at his friend's house for the night. To prevent his knees from blistering (起泡), he swapped between hands and knees into loping (大步跑) along on hands and feet and took breaks every 100 to 200 meters. But the arduous crawl was well worth it.

Harrison, who crossed the finish line at 11:45 am, has raised over£37, 000 ($47, 800 USD), far more than his original goal of £1, 790 ( $2, 300 USD), for the Gorilla Organization, whose efforts are mainly spent in Rwanda, Uganda, and Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The much-needed funds will help train the communities near gorilla habitats to become more sel-sufficient and decrease their reliance on selling wildlife meat for a living. The money will also help pay for ranger services to monitor excess hunting of the Great Apes. More importantly, Harrison hopes his six-day crawl will highlight the bad situation of the gorillas, whose numbers are decreasing at alarming rates, and encourage more people to help protect them.

While thrilled at the outcome, Harrison, also known as Mr. Gorilla, is not done yet. He intends to continue his fundraising efforts at the annual RideLondon cycling festival.

24、   Israeli researchers say they have created the world's first three-dimensional, or 3D-printed heart using a patient's own cells. They described the experiment as "a major medical breakthrough." Tal Dvir, the lead researcher on the project, said in a statement that it was the first time that human cells had been used with 3D printing technology to successfully create a whole heart. Dvir added that the "printed" heart contains blood vessels which are needed to pump blood. The development marks a step forward for 3D printing in the medical field.

The researchers took samples of fatty tissue from patients. This material was then used to develop “ink” for the 3D printing process. First, the researchers created patches of tissue from the patient’s own cells. Later, they used that same process to create a small version of a whole heart. Using the patient’s own cells is important to reduce the risk that the body’s system to fight infection will reject a transplanted organ.

The goal, the researchers said, is to treat heart disease. The World Health Organization reports that heart disease is by far the leading cause of death worldwide. For patients with severe heart disease, a heart transplant is currently the main treatment available. The researchers hope their invention can help ease the demand for heart transplant donors.

Dvir says that the newly-created heart represents great progress. However, more research and development is needed to produce a fully operating, transplantable organ. One of the biggest challenges for the engineering team will be finding a way to create a human-sized heart.

Dvir said his team planned to transplant heart models designed for animals, possibly within the next year. He added that, for human use, “simpler organs” will likely be produced before hearts. “Maybe, in ten years, there will be organ printers in the finest hospitals around the world,” Dvir said. He hopes such methods will be used “routinely” to produce organs in the future.

【1】Why should patients’ own cells be used to create a 3D heart?

A.To avoid being rejected.

B.To make it suitable to print.

C.To fight infection.

D.To build up immune system.

【2】What is the research intended for?

A.To adopt printing technology.

B.To create human organs.

C.To treat heart disease.

D.To develop organ printers.

【3】What does Dvir expect of organ printers in the future?

A.They will be developed to create organs routinely.

B.They will be widely used to treat different diseases.

C.They will be used to transplant organs for animals.

D.They will be applied to various fields in the world.

【4】What is the text mainly about?

A.An artificial heart.
