Dear Sally,

I argued with my parents last night. I really want to go to a summer camp with my best friend Pingping. I think I can take good care of myself, but my parents think I am too young to do that. I feel terrible. What should I do?

Meimei

Dear Meimei,

Try to understand your parents. They care about you and worry about your safety (安全). So why not talk to them to let them know that you have already grown up? You could cook for them or do some housework to show that. Remember arguing is never a good way to show your idea.

Dear Sally,

I hung out with my friends the other day and I saw a little boy lying on the street. He wore old clothes and looked very hungry. My friends laughed at him. I wanted to buy him some food, but my friends stopped me. I felt so sorry. Now I think of what we did from time to time. What should I do?

Research has shown that teenagers have different sleep patterns from adultsHuman bodies produce melatonin(褪黑激素)to help fall asleep Most adults start to produce melatonin at

about 10 pmwhile teenagers only begin to produce it three hours laterIt is possible that this  delay in melatonin production is caused by the behaviors of teenagers such as playing with phones late at night

23、The Big Lottery is giving money to groups of teenagers between 14 and 19 who want to become active citizens. The teenagers who would like to help make the area you live in better, cleaner, safer and friendlier can actually get money for improving your local community(社区). We have $80,000 to give away. We are looking for young people to take part in schemes(规划)and projects near where they live.

Here are a few easy things you could do to get started.

Meeting the neighbours: Everybody needs good neighbours. Knock on people’s door and find out what they would like to improve in your area. Set a date for a meeting and then make some plans together. If you don't want to go to their houses, then you could always put a note through their doors.

Neighbourhood Watch: Neighbourhood watch schemes are very popular in the UK. If you go away on holiday and leave your house, it’s very nice to know that a neighbour is keeping an eye on it. It’s a good way to make the area you live in safer. You could set one up easily and quickly.

Lending a hand: There are often elderly people living in the neighbourhood who may not be able to do the things that you can. Offer to do their shopping once a week, look after their garden for them or maybe walk their dog.

No littering: Nobody likes picking up other people's rubbish, but a clean street can make all the difference. Take turns to go out once or twice a week and see what you can find. You never know that one day you might find something valuable.

Recycling: Nearly two-thirds of your rubbish can be recycled. Some areas have already provided places for people to recycle bottles, tins, plastic and paper. Find out if this is done in your neighbourhood. If it’s not, do something about it.

So go on...Just tell us what kind of project you want to join in. Then well send you more details. Take positive action and help make your neighbourhood a better place to live.
