26、   An 82-year-old Chinese female pilot has set a record in the country's airline industry after flying a small plane for 40 minutes in Beijing. Miao Xiaohong, one of China's second batch (一批)of female pilots, controlled the Tecnam P2010 plane to take off, turn, climb, dive and land safely at the Shifosi Airport in Pinggu District of Beijing.

In 1956, Miao Xiaohong, who graduated from a high school in Jinan, won a position in the second batch. She graduated from the flight school in 1958. In the following years, she flew many important missions (任务).In 1963, she undertook a mission to airdrop materials for the flood-stricken areas in Hebei Province. Poor visibility (能见度)prevented her locating the target areas as the clouds were about 100 meters above the ground, but she managed to finish the task.

In 1989, she retired and started her writing career. When she collected materials for her books, she found that many aged pilots in other countries still flew, and she had the idea to return to the sky. Different from past flights for missions, this time her goal was to enjoy the flight. She said that it was exciting and fresh. " Seeing the boundless blue sky unfold in front of me, I feel it is very open," she said.

The trainer said that Miao Xiaohong could finish 30 hours of flight to get a license for commercial flight. She said, "My physical condition is good enough to finish the 30-hour flight but it is not so important for me to get such a license. 27、   Are your children liked by their teachers? All parents want their children to impress their teachers and succeed in school. You can get your children to impress their teachers by following these easy steps.

Make sure they’re prepared. Teachers are impressed by children coming to school prepared to learn. Make sure they have everything they need—pencils, textbooks, erasers and so on.

Require them to be active in class. Teach them to ask teachers questions when they don’t understand something, some children think teachers are bothered by questions, but most teachers are impressed when children take the initiative(采取主动) in asking questions. They should take part in class discussions, giving their opinions politely.

Keep your children healthy. If your children are tired and hungry, they won’t be ready to learn. Children need at least 8 to 10 hours of sleep per night. Feed your children a solid breakfast and prepare a healthy lunch. Provide them with fruit and other healthy foods—apples or bananas are better for them than cookies.

Make sure that your children do their homework. If they really don’t understand it , discuss it with them patiently. Don’t help them do their homework. Teachers can always tell who it is that does the work.

Teach your children good manners and habits. Children need to arrive at the school punctually, and be polite to their teachers and classmates. Parents need to teach these skills at home. 28、   I’d been at Camp Eggleton for only two days before I got my nickname(绰号) ,Screaming Toad(尖叫的蛤蟆).

When we were on our first nature walk, a tree frog dropped onto my shirt from the branches above. I screamed. I didn't even know I could make a sound like that. Most kids laughed it off and forgot about it. But Stan wouldn’t let it go.

Three days later, Mr. Matt told us we would play a game. The two-person team to find the most treasures hidden in the woods gets something cold. Thoughts of ice cream froze on our brains.

Mr. Matt started reading off pairs of names. My nerves(神经) got completely fried when he said, “And finally, Jay and Stan.”

“If the mosquitoes(蚊子) are biting you, just ask Screaming Toad to eat them for you.” Stan called to the group. One kid laughed, but most of them were already concentrating on looking for treasures.

Then I had an idea,“You know, Stan, if we split up, we’ll have a better chance of finding stuff.” Stan shrugged (耸肩)and walked down the path alone.

Ten minutes later, I heard something that reminded me of myself a few days ago. I ran toward the sound. Stan was jumping around like a monkey, screaming and yelling: “Ants! Ants!”

I led him into a mud puddle(泥坑). He was surprised at first, then he must have realized why I was doing it. The itch() was going away and so were the ants.

“I guess you’re going to have a pretty good story for everyone later.”Stan said worriedly.

“Yeah, I guess so. You’ll probably be known as Dancing Ant from now on.”

That night, we all sat around the campfire. I could see Stan’s worry as clear as daylight. He was waiting for it. But I never said anything. I knew how it felt to be laughed at.

The next day was Game Day. When I was picked for a basketball team, someone called, “No fair! Screaming Toad’s a natural Jumper!”

Stan yelled out, “Knock it off. His name is Jay.”
