26、 Going green seems to be a fad(时尚)for a lot of people these days. Whether that is good or bad, we can’t really say, but for the two of us, going green is not a fad but a lifestyle.
On April 22, 2011, we decided to go green every single day for an entire year. This meant doing 365 different green things, and it also meant challenging ourselves to go green beyond the easy things. Rather than recycle and reduce our energy, we had to think of 365 different green things to do and this was no easy task.
With the idea of going green every single day for a year, Our Green Year started. My wife and I decided to educate people about how they could go green in their lives and hoped we could show people all the green things that could be done to help the environment. We wanted to push the message that every little bit helps.
Over the course of Our Green Year, we completely changed our lifestyles. We now shop at organic(有机的)stores. We consume less meat, choosing green food. We have greatly reduced our buying we don’t need. We have given away half of what we owned through websites. Our home is kept clean by vinegar and lemon juice, with no chemical cleaners. We make our own butter, enjoying the smell of home-made fresh bread. In our home anyone caught doing something ungreen might be punished.
Our minds have been changed by Our Green Year. We are grateful for the chance to have been able to go green and educate others. We believe that we do have the power to change things and help our planet.

27、 No doubt there are ups and downs in life. Whatever the situation is, you shouldn’t lose your joy of life. Life is for a limited period only and no one knows how long he/she will live, so why do you waste your precious time in worrying about the things that are beyond your control? Be happy, and enjoy your life unconditionally (无条件地).
You enjoy good days but you also need to learn how to enjoy bad days, even enjoy your pain. In 2016 when I was in Geneva, Switzerland, I suffered a sudden heart attack. My colleagues called an ambulance and I was taken to hospital with much pain in my chest. Before reaching hospital, I was totally exhausted with pain and was going to lose control of my emotions. Then the doctor in the ambulance said, “Don’t worry; you are in safe hands.” His words took away all my pain because I started realizing that it was no time to worry about pain and it’s time to be happy that my life was safe. At that time, I learnt an important lesson that in pain there is a hidden joy and whoever sees the bright side can enjoy pain. My pain turned into a joy which greatly helped me recover more quickly than expected.
You not only enjoy success but you also need to learn to enjoy failure. Failure provides you with an opportunity to benefit from so many choices you’ve made. Celebrating failure will raise your morale and make you more powerful and determined to achieve success. We all make mistakes in life but only the courageous (勇敢的) people not only laugh at their own mistakes but also let other people laugh at them and then they reach success without any spiritual burden (负担). A person who learns from mistakes and knows how to turn the bad situation into his/her favor is the most intelligent person and really enjoys his/her life.

A.His colleagues were always with him.
B.He could be looked after by his parents.
C.He planned to enjoy the last days in life.
D.His doctor made him realize the value of being alive.
【3】The underlined word “morale” in Paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to “________”.

C.pleasure D.inspiration
【4】The author thinks that the wisest person________.
A.never laughs at others B.has strong determination
C.is ready to do others a favor D.is good at learning from mistakes
28、 Computers have become so smart during the past 20 years that people don’t think twice about chatting with digital assistants like Alexa and Siri. But that required hard work from computer scientists like YoshuaBengio, Geoffrey Hinton, and Yann LeCun. They tapped into their own brainpower to make it possible for machines to learn like humans, a breakthrough now commonly known as “artificial intelligence”, or AI.
Their insights and persistence were rewarded with the Turing Award, an honor that has become known as technology industry’s version of the Nobel Prize. The award marks the latest recognition of the instrumental role that artificial intelligence will likely play in redefining the relationship between humanity and technology in the decades ahead.
Over the past 30 years, Mr. Bengio, Mr. Hinton, and Mr. LeCun have mostly worked separately on technology known as neural (神经的) networks. These are the electronic engines that power tasks such as facial and speech recognition, areas where computers have made huge improvements over the past decade. Such neural networks also are a key part of robotic systems that are automating a wide range of other human activities, including driving.
Their belief in the power of neural networks was once looked down upon. “For a long time, people thought what we were doing was nonsense,” Mr. Hinton said in an interview with The Associated Press. “They thought we were very misguided and what we were doing was a very surprising thing for apparently intelligent people to waste their time on. My message to young researchers is, don’t be put off if everyone tells you what you are doing is silly.”
While the AI revolution is raising hopes that computers will make most people’s lives more convenient and enjoyable, it’s also arousing fears that humanity eventually will be living at the mercy of machines. Mr. Bengio, Mr. Hinton, and Mr. LeCun are also concerned that AI technology might be developed into weapon systems that wipe out humanity.
But they are far more optimistic about the other prospects of AI — empowering computers to deliver more accurate warnings about floods and earthquakes, or detecting health risks, such as cancer and heart attacks, far earlier than human doctors.
【1】Why does the author mention Alexa and Siri in the first paragraph?
A.To introduce the topic of AI. B.To stress the significance of computers.
C.To distinguish between types of AI. D.To encourage the use of digital assistants.
【2】What role do neural networks play in AI?
A.They make electronic engines work. B.They match up people’s faces with voices.
C.They contribute to robotic automation. D.They enable humans to learn like machines.
【3】Why are people concerned about AI?
A.It is a total waste of money. B.It is likely to bring disasters to human beings.
C.It is a real risk to public health. D.It is ineffective in forecasting natural disasters.

The elementary means of communicating with other people is conveying messages by voice. They can be nasal, resonant or shrill produced in accordance with the individual physical【2】 of the throat.
One possible implementation of the 【3】 of voice recognition is voice profiling used by police analysts as a method of substantiating court evidence in trials. Every year, thousands of audiotapes with recorded interviews or 【4】 utterances are put to the purpose to help identify the probable 【5】. Specialists dealing with the voice investigation claim that people can give themselves away by their 【6】, inflections or other voice attributes like pitch, intensity and loudness. A recorded sample is usually 【7】 into electric impulses and later transformed into a pictorial recoding which is processed by a computer program. Very frequently voice analyst have a stake at deciphering the relevant information which may be 【8】 with background noise or other interfering sounds until they attain the 【9】 results.
Thankfully, these efforts help the police detect individuals who threaten their victims by phone or inform about bomb 【10】 or those who make offensive calls disturbing the peach of decent citizens.
