六、阅读理解(共3题,共 15分)

21、   Anger is a kind of feeling. Many things can make you angry. When your teacher gives you too much homework, when your team loses an important game, when a friend borrows your favorite thing and then breaks it, you may get really angry.

Usually, your body will tell you when you are angry. For example, you breathe faster, your face turns red, and you may want to break something or hit() someone, but sometimes, you hide(隐藏) your anger. For example, you may hide it in your heart. The problem is that if you do this, you may get a headache or your stomach may hurt.

In fact, it’s not good to hide your anger, and it’s normal for you to get angry sometimes. But anger must be let out in the right way, without hurting others or yourself.

When you get angry, you can talk about it with other people. It’s helpful to talk about your anger with an adult, such as parents, a teacher, etc. When you talk about anger, those bad feelings can start to go away. Here are some other things you can do when you start to feel angry: talk to a good friend; count from 1 to 100; give someone a hug(拥抱); go for a bike ride; think about good things, etc.

Remember that how you act when you are angry can make everything better or worse. Don’t let your anger control you.

22、Each year on Feb 21, UNESCO (联合国教科文组织) holds an International Mother Language Day (IMLD). The event is to help people to pay attention to the disappearance of the world’s languages and try to encourage people to learn and use them.

What happens when a language dies out? Something great is lost — not just sounds and marks but the way that people understand the world and communicate with each other. We keep different cultures and traditions through languages. Kill a language and all these are killed too.

Through IMLD, more and more people come to realize the terrible situation and try to stop it.

Google’s 2018 Endangered Languages Project is a good example. In order to avoid losing them, many speakers and protectors of endangered languages upload (上传) texts, audios and videos to the project website. They want to introduce the way that people communicate and express themselves around the world. The Myaamia Project is the same kind of way to revive the language spoken by the Miami tribes (部落) of the United States. Project members work to encourage people to study and communicate with this language, which died out in the 1960s. These activities give life to those endangered languages. People who work to keep languages alive are not limited to the past. Many young people design apps and use social media to support their activities. They “spread the word” to save the world.

So, although the problem of disappearing languages remains a very serious one, there is hope. We all have a special feeling of our mother language. This is why we should remember the wise words of late president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to a man in his own language, that goes to his heart.”

23、Guzheng is a stringed (有弦的) musical instrument. It has a very long history in China. It also has a very interesting story about its name.

Thousands of years ago, there was a very famous musician in China. He was known for his skills in playing the “se”. The “se” had 25 strings. The musician was very old. He wanted to leave his instrument to one of his two sons. But both of his sons wanted it. The two sons argued. To have peace at home, the old man came up with an idea. He cut his “se” into two pieces——one had 12 strings and the other had 13, so each son could get half of the instrument. The musician played the new instrument in the same way as he played the “se”. To his surprise, the new instrument sounded even better than the “se”!

The musician was now a very happy old man. His two sons stopped arguing. When the old man tried to name his new instrument, he remembered how his sons argued. In Chinese, the word for “argue” is pronounced as “zheng”. So, the musician picked (挑选) a word that sounded and looked just like “zheng”.
