二、阅读理解(共4题,共 20分)

21、   In 2019, more than 1. 4 million young people around the globe took part in the School Strikes for Climate Action protests that were largely prompted by a 17-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg. The inspirational teenage is far from the first or last young person to fight for a better environmental future.

With the rise of social media in recent years, young people around the globe have easy access to surprising information about how we're currently failing to look after the Earth. Websites such as YouTube provide accessible coverage on ecological matters and links to new scientific information are easily shared between peers. But, it's not just online research that exposes the truth, and it's not a distant threat either. Climate change is around us. Our oceans are 30 percent more acidic(酸性的)due to carbon pollution, an increase of droughts and heatwaves means a loss of crop production and forest is cut down every second.

Of course, just because young people are now readily armed with statistics doesn't mean all adults will eagerly listen to them. Many write off young activists simply due to their age, and others still aren't willing to see the environmental challenges we face, but that doesn't mean a diligence can’t be made.

In fact, there are some advantages of being a young activist. A study on participants aged 16-24 in the UN climate negotiations revealed that adults perceived younger activists as being more trustworthy. Young activists not only aren't smudged (弄脏)by agendas being forced on them, they also have an untainted(未染污的)view of what's going on and, being free from politics, they often say what adults aren't willing to.

So, it seems achieving a carbon neutral world in the future might depend on young determined voices inspiring experienced adults who can make a difference. Preferably, young people wouldn't worry about the environment at all, but our civilization forced them into the conversation when their futures were put at stake, so their voices should be included in the solution.

1What is the second paragraph mainly about?

A.The influence of social media.

B.The truth behind the statistics.

C.The different examples of Climate change effects.

D.Young people's easy exposure to climate problems.

2What do the underlined words “write off" mean in paragraph 3?

A.Adults speak highly of the young people.

B.Adults look down upon the young people.

C.Adults show sympathy to the young people.

D.Adults regard young people as unimportant persons.

3Which of the following is the best title for the text?

A.Taking a younger approach. B.Protecting the globe.

C.Speaking out your voices. D.Meeting environmental challenges.

22、   If VR (virtual reality) ever goes mainstream, then it has the potential to become the biggest technological breakthrough of the decade. The idea of living in the digital world is almost as old as science fiction itself and now a headset will bring us closer to it than ever before.

To enjoy the new world, all you have to do is pop on the comfortable headset, and with a quick setup on the companion app you're good to go. XRSpace claims this will be the world's first 5G mobile VR headset, so you can take it with you without being tied to the house. There are also no external sensors, with inside-out tracking technology able to detect your head and hand movements, ensuring you don't have to suffer clumsy VR controllers.

The virtual world itself is where the XRSpace Manova shines the brightest and has to be seen to be believed. Seeing a gap in the market, the XRSpace Manova headset isn't focused on gaming or commercial use but rather as a VR social platform where friends and family can hang out in a virtual space similar to Linden Lab's Second Life.

You can create avatars with realistic features which means they actually look like you. The avatars can act in fun ways from handshakes to stunning break-dance. Users will also be able to watch movies or live sporting events with friends and family within the shared virtual space. The XRSpace Manova absolutely realizes what you want from a VR device and that's making you feel part of the experience instead of a viewer of the experience. It is probably the closest to a fully immersive digital world we'll ever get with today's technology. Nevertheless, it's a giant leap to go from VR gaming to a VR social platform.

【1】What can we know about the VR headset?

A.It is designed to create your real avatar.

B.It can bring a vivid virtual world to the user.

C.It can monitor your trunk move accurately.

D.It works better if not tied to the house.

【2】Why is the VR headset different from the other previous ones?

A.Not to appeal to the adolescents.

B.Not to display users' real identity.

C.Not to specialize in VR games.

D.Not to take costs into consideration.

【3】What does the underlined word “immersive" in Paragraph 4 probably mean?

A.Impressive.

B.Intelligent.

C.Independent.

D.Involved.

【4】What is the author's attitude towards the headset?

24、In 2016, inspired by a challenge called the “16 for 16”, where a mother gave her daughter $1,600 when she turned 16 if she stayed off social media, Lorna Klefsaas decided to up the ante (赌注) to two extra years and $200 more for her son, Sivert Klefsaas.

As a 12-year-old, Sivert wasn’t using social media much. The only app he had prior to the bet was Snapchat — which he deleted a day after trying it out. So it wasn’t too difficult to live without social media, and he didn’t think about it much during the six years. “I wouldn’t say there was ever a time when I thought I was about to break,” he said. “As it went on, it was more of a pride thing.”

Lorna never had to check for any secretly downloaded apps. “I got to avoid all the unnecessary drama that was on there. I had my friends to keep me up to date on the latest information or trends.” Sivert said. “It meant I had more time to focus on my grades and sports instead.”

On February 19, 2022, Sivert claimed his prize. Now $1,800 richer, Sivert hasn’t thought about what to buy, but it’ll likely be something for his dorm room at the University of St. Paul, which he’ll attend in the fall.

After Sivert’s success, Lorna turned to Facebook to share the challenge. She said it was some of the best money she ever spent. Other parents seemed interested in trying it out too. “We are certainly not against social media, but it’s the healthy using of it,” Lorna noted. “It’s about not letting yourself get weighed down by it, or addicted to it, or affected by things that people post.”

Now Sivert has a new perspective on staying off social media. “It was awesome. Ah, what about 6 more years? Thank you, Mom.”

【1】Why did Lorna bet her son?

A.To challenge.

B.By watching dramas in the theater.

C.By aiming at his academic standards.

D.By dreaming of his prize with eagerness.

【4】Which of the following is a suitable title for the passage?

A.A successful 18-for-18 bet.

25、   Many things happen when people are ageing. Apart from the greying hair and wrinkled skin, there is a(n) _______ change which comes with older age. When humans reach their later years, they favour more long-term _______ and their social cirele is reduced.

Now, for what appears to be the first time, scientists have seen the same _______ in another species. Twenty years of observations of chimpanzees (猩猩) reveal that older males choose to keep contact with their _______ friends at the expense of other relationships.

The researchers studied 78,000 hours of observations made between 1996 and 2016 that followed the social _______ of 21 male chimpanzees between the ages of 15 and 58 years old. They classified the chimps' _______ depending on the amount of time they sat with others and groomed (梳毛) them. They then rated (分类) the various pairings as mutual (相互的) friendships, where both chimps seemed to enjoy the relationship; _______ friendships, where one chimp was more keen to be friends than the other; and non-friendships, where neither chimp showed _______ the other.

When the scientists looked at the _______ of friendships, they found that the older chimps had more mutual friendships and fewer one-sided friendships than younger chimps. Another __________ seen in older humans was also spotted in the chimps. As the males got older, their levels of __________ gradually become less, meaning they started fewer fights and tended to threaten others in their group less often.

The observations have left the researchers __________. According to an idea in psychology known as socio-emotional selectivity theory, older humans prefer more __________ relationships because they are aware that time is running out. 四、书面表达(共1题,共 5分)

26、阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Last year I graduated from college and landed a job in the local company. I was lucky because the economy was declining and a lot of companies went out of business. There were many unemployed graduates. That was a difficult time for everyone. I cherished my precious job and worked so hard. One day, I walked on the street after finishing my work. I saw many beautiful decorations, such as colorful lights, the familiar song and so on. I suddenly realized Christmas was coming. I had promised my nephew that when I found a job, I would send him a Christmas gift. Fortunately I still had a little time to buy one for him. And on that very day I witnessed how people cared for each other,

I was doing some last-minute Christmas shopping in a toy store. A nicely dressed little girl was looking through the teddy bears beside her father when she saw a little boy walk in and stop in front of the Pokemon toys. His jacket was obviously too small. He had money in his hand. However, it looked no more than five dollars at most. He was with his father as well, and kept picking up the Pokemon video games. Each time he showed one to his father, his father shook his head, “No”.

Rather disappointed, the boy gave up the video games and chose a book of stickers instead. After they walked away, the little girl ran over to the Pokemon video games. She excitedly picked up one lying on top of the others, and raced down toward the checkout. I picked up my purchases and followed the girl and her father.

注意.1.续写词数应为150左右;

2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
