一、翻译题(共1题,共 5分)

1、阅读下面的短文,将划线部分译成英文或中文。

“If you are going to get anywhere in life, you have to read a lot of books.” Roald Dahl once said.1.阅读在我们生活中扮演着重要的角色, and no one can live without books. People always get what they want from the books. When people ask Elon Musk, the founder of Space X, how he learned to build rockets, he says, “I read books.” So 2.你想从书中学到什么呢?   Maybe you want to learn how to paint, or speak a new language? Maybe you want to learn how to stop procrastinating(拖延)? Or you want to know how to change your life? No matter(无论) what it is, reading can help.

3.One great thing about reading is that it can exercise your mind. When you are reading, your brain is working and it becomes active(积极的). Our brains have a “use it or lose it” rule. If we don’t exercise our minds too often, they may not give you useful information when necessary.

Reading is good for your memory(记忆), too. When you are reading detective fiction(侦探小说), for example, you’ll find it hard to understand the story if you can’t remember all the details(细节), so it is good exercise for your memory. 4.The more you read, the better memory you will have.

What’s more, reading makes you more confident(自信的), because reading can make you more knowledgeable—5.you can always have something interesting to talk about!

So what are you waiting for?

六、阅读理解(共3题,共 15分)

21、   My teacher said to a student, “Give me your phone.”

We all looked in surprise. Kyle, a student who I never saw text in class, gave the teacher his phone.

When the teacher left, two students who I often saw text in class started boasting(吹嘘) about how they sent text messages and never got caught.

“Kyle, you stupid! I put my phone under my desk so it looks like I'm looking at my textbooks” one of them said.

“Isn't it funny that we always text and never get caught” the other one laughed.

They must have thought they were smart, because they never got caught and Kyle did. But which situation is worse: getting caught, or getting away with it? Rules are there for a reason.

These two students might not get caught, but neither of them had good grades. They didn't pay any attention to the class, and I think they will keep doing this.

People don't just break big rules and get thrown into jail(监狱) overnight. They take it one step at a time. Kyle might have gotten caught, but at least he learned a good lesson. He will not break the rules in the future, so he will learn more in class and stay out of trouble. It's smarter not to break small rules.

1Why did the teacher ask Kyle to give up his phone?

A.She wanted to find out what Kyle just texted.

B.Kyle was playing with his phone in class.

C.The students wanted to see Kyle's new phone.

D.She likes Kyle's phone.

2In the future, the two students might________

A.pay more attention in class

B.keep texting during class

C.not break any rules again

D.give up playing with their phones

3From the story, we know that the writer________

A.doesn't think Kyle is a good student

B.thinks getting caught in class is worse

C.thinks the two students might break bigger rules

D.thinks the two students are great

23、If someone asks you to paint a picture of a robot, what will it look like? Like a person? We always think the robot looks like a person. But real robots have many different looks.

Some robots have TV cameras as eyes. Some have something to help them touch. Many have computer brains. What robots look like depends on the job they have to do. Some can even change their parts so they can do different jobs.

Robots can do boring jobs. They can do jobs no person can do, such as picking up hot metal. Robots don’t get bored. They don’t get tired. They don’t worry about getting dirty.

Some people are afraid that robots will take jobs away from people. But that won’t happen. After all, people are in charge(掌管) of robots. People must remember that robots are good at some things and we are good at others.

Some robots go around telling people that they don’t have to be afraid of robots. These robots help people understand that robots can do dull jobs so people can do better ones.
